Trust Is The Antidote To Fear

Today I heard a question about fear in the context of discernment.  Fear can affect us in many ways, some of which can be quite debilitating.

Fear can be disabling.  Fear blocks love.

If we want to love, we should let fear be cast out of ourselves.  Eventually, we can get to the point where perfect love casts out all fear.*

God wants to pour His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.**  God wants to drive the fear out of us.  God wants us to trust in Him.

God is love.***  God is infinite; God's love is infinite.

God's love for us is infinitely greater than we imagine.  What God has in mind for us is infinitely better than what we can imagine for ourselves.

When we fear, we are laboring under our misconceptions of what is best for us.  In our fear, we are holding ourselves back from accurately seeing the love that God has in mind for us.

God wants to set us free from our lack of vision so we can be free to welcome His love into us.  As we let go of our fear, we make room for the love of God in our hearts.

If we trust in God, our fear will shrivel up as love comes to dwell in us.  Trust in God, and the love it brings, is the antidote to the fear which disables us.
